Alpinacris Bigelow 1967 is a genus of shorthorn grasshoppers endemic to New Zealand.

Body length: males 18-22mm, females 25-35mm
Colour: olive green with distinctive markings in yellow, brown and orange
Number of instars: males 5, females 6
Altitude: 975m – 1680m a.s.l.
Habitat: tussock, also reported on screes
Recorded locations: Gouland Downs, Boulder Lakes (Lead Hills), Lake Sylvester, Mount Arthur, Mount Haast, Mount Glasgow, Mount Gould, Mount Owen, Mount Peel (Cobb Valley), Mount Roberts (St Arnaud), Nelson, Paparoa Range, Speargrass Creek, St Arnaud Range, Travers Range and Victoria Range.
